I Feel Like I Have Nothing Left to Offer

Dear Michelle Valentine,
I am an attractive black male going through a divorce and I have been looking for friendship with females who enjoy movies, music, dancing, dining out, etc. I am finding this difficult to achieve at this time. Most personal ads are those looking for love and permanent relationships, and I feel that the only thing I have to offer anyone is friendship. Any advice? Do you know anyone interested in the same? Help!

Dear Mark,
It is true most single persons place personals ads to find long-term love relationships. But there are many persons in your situation of recently divorcing and really just wanting companionship and conversation; a friendship. With Orlando being such a transient area, some single persons, too, are looking for just friendship-relationships (because they might not be certain of staying put in Orlando, and don't want to get too involved with someone just yet). Of course I recommend that you place an ad under the category of "Men Seeking Women", and being absolutely honest in your ad of the type of relationship you are seeking. I know there are women out there looking for just a friendship, too.
