I just moved here from North Carolina due to a job transfer, and I'm getting anxious about my birthday coming up in July and having no one to spend it with! How can I quickly make some friends in a few months?

You have over 3 months to make friends-- with that much time, it will be easy! I suggest you start socializing more with your co-workers; you obviously have something already in common with them. Smile more often, say hello to every person you work with, and the ones you find interesting you should invite to lunch. Into sports? Join a sports league. Just get out to do things, anything.
