Placing Online Ads

Post date: 2006-05-14

Dear Michelle Valentine,
I am an avid Internet browser, and have placed ads through a lot of different online personals sites, and I haven't received as many responses as when I have placed ads through your paper. Is it because women read the paper more than they hook up online, or what? Are women afraid of meeting men online?
Jeff, via email

Dear Jeff,
I came across some fascinating data from the recent professional convention held by the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists: Scotophilia (viewing sexual stimuli) is the No. 1 sexual activity in the United States. Sex is the most searched topic on the Internet, and men often choose websites with visual stimuli. When women browse the Internet, they favor chat rooms (mental stimuli over visual stimuli). Additional research results show that Internet personals ads are an effective way for women to find men, although less effective as a way for men to find women. Generally speaking, however, men who describe themselves in terms of their ambitions and moral character - rather than their physical attributes - attract more responses from women … so praise yourself away! Alas, do not lose hope. If you have not yet tried the Orlando Weekly Personals online, I suggest you do so, because our online Personals are used and perused by the same female readers who have been answering your ads in our paper. Visit us at: orlandoweekly.com/personals. Be sure to mark the option to have your online ad printed in our paper, too! Have fun!
